House & Housing: The Encompassed Wave
Woodbury School of Architecture
ARCH 301 - Fall 2020
Instructor | Paulette Singley
This housing project began with picking a precedent nest which a puffer fish nest was picked. The studying of the function and style of the nest was made in order to produce a housing with minimum program for one person. Then the second project began by getting a site where an ADU had to be designed for a set of clients. The clients that were picked were a young couple with the husband being a painter and the wife a writer. After choosing the client, a wallpaper needed to be made to emphasize the likes of the clients. Next the process of combining the “Nest” and “ADU” became the “Merge” which became the dwelling unit. Lastly, using all three projects came the whole of forming this CoOp with a program of choice, a pool program was picked in order to make all three come together.

Looking at the nest, the puffer fish was studied too and the way the fish works when it puffs and de-puffs.

These surrounding apertures would open and close as temperature would rise which would become sustainable to both heat and cold.

Wallpaper Influenced by "NEST" Precedent and Clients. Key Design Influence for "ADU" Roof and Interior.
