Structure, Systems, Space, and Form - THE ELEVATED 3-B VIEWS OF BALLONA
Woodbury School of Architecture
ARCH 302 - Spring 2021
Instructor | Gerard Smulevich
The key focus of this studio is the design process. It began with a choice of a precedent and studying the structure, systems, space, and form. After studying the case study, the first project O.B.S.E.R.V.E. began which was an overhead boat and ecological reserve viewing emplacement. The site for this project is located in Marina del Rey, California. It is right in front of the UCLA Aquatic Center. Eventually this project became The Elevated 3-B Views of Ballona. The name came from the main activities on the site; the birds, the bikes, and the boats. The purpose for the name and this project was for this viewing emplacement to really get in the feel of all these activities and have people see them and participate in them.
